| | These are the resolutions the
young missionary priest made before leaving for his first assignment
to India in 1842. They continued to be the guiding principles
that inspired him to found the Society of African Missions, and
they continue to inspire today's SMA missionaries who carry on
the vision of Brésillac. - I resolve to be a missionary
with all my heart.
- I resolve to neglect nothing that may
advance the work of God.
- I resolve to seize every opportunity
to preach the word of God.
- I resolve to use every means
I have - all my strength, all my study, and all my effort to contribute
towards the formation of a local clergy. And it is there that
I implore your blessing especially, O my God.
