When Ann Seliskar, S.M.A. Lay
Missionary, left for her mission assignment
in Ganta, Liberia, she was
open to serve in whatever way she
was needed. She was warmly welcomed
by the Director, Sr. Rita and
the Consolata Sisters who are running
the Ganta Leprosy Center.
Ann spent some time getting to know
the staff and residents at the Center,
assisted with typing reports and planning
some pertinent workshops. She
was assigned the task of developing a
survey to help determine the needs at
the Center.
When Ann is not at the Center, she
is visiting the S.M.A. Community in
St. Mary’s Parish in Sanniquelli.
Working together, they identified that
there was a great need for funds to
help the children go to school.
Education is vital! The children
need a good foundation on which
they can build for a better future.
Families are very poor and many do
not have enough money to send
their children to school. Out of this
concern, Fr. Donatien, Fr. Robert
and Ann established the Bresillac
Project for Education in Liberia.
This scholarship project is now
launched through the love, support
and generosity of Ann’s family and
friends. Heartfelt thanks goes to
the Festus and Helen Stacy
Foundation for their very generous
grant, making the Bresillac Project
a reality.
